Crooklyn is probably the least controversial of all of Spike Lee’s films, but it is one of those films that never gets old for me. I can watch it over and over again.
It is a semi-autobiographical film written by Lee and his siblings. The film is shown through the eyes of Troy, the only girl in a family of five kids. It takes place in Brooklyn during the summer of ‘73 where we follow the Carmichaels through good times and bad times.
This film is so watchable for me because of the ability to relate to it on so many levels. Everyone has a crazy family and has been through ups and downs. That’s just life.
